In recent years much work has been done to accurately map all of the Esketemc land with GPS equipment. A result of this was that many historical sites have been located and accurately positioned. These sites have all been designated as Esketemc Heritage Sites and include such things as pictographs and petroglyphs. A pictograph is an old painting that is applied directly to the rock surface. A petroglyph is a rock that has actually had an image carved into the surface. The etchings on petroglyphs are often colored in with chalk to highlight the designs that are made on them.
Many of these Esketemc Heritage Sites are located along the river and are accessible by boat only. Further, many of these sites are underwater during high tide so you must time your trip correctly if you wish to see these. See the rafting section for more information on seeing these sites.
